Notes for OLD JOHN ACORD:
Old John Acord was of German ancestry, came from Virginia to Peterstown in Monroe County WV when the county was organized in 1799-1800, and lived there when Robert Cuddy Acord was born in 1802, then came to Bacontown, Raleigh County WV and later to the mouth of Acords Branch in Wyoming County WV in 1824 and later moved to Indiana where he died. Census records show he was born in Pennsylvania. ****(typist note.. in some of my research, I have found confusion between the state of Pennsylvania and the county of Pittsylvania, Virginia. in view of the area he came to I want to note that he could have been from Pittsylvania instead)*****
Of the other children of Old John, Job married a Harper, Katherine married Dave Rollis, Felt married and Oliver along with old Zur Acord all made their home in Ohio.
Old John is found in the Giles County census for 1810. He is not listed in the 1830 census, so eveidently he had gone to Ohio and on the Indiana by this time.
